The Civics Institute showed me that transparency in government is important, and we all need to be willing to engage with it.

Sean Grace - Chairman of Hamden Democratic Committee

Through the Civics Institute and its founder Patrick, I've learned the importance of being civically engaged. I’ve become more aware of my local elections and have inspired my friends to do the same.

Before we had limited knowledge of civics and how to participate. Now we know ways to engage with our community with or without titles. The Civics Institute is a great resource to learn how to transform your community.

Jen Huynh - Delta Sigma Pi’s New England Regional Vice President

Educated citizens make better voters and better neighbors. It’s an area where many of us have a large gap in our traditional education.

The Civics Institute helps close that gap, they take complicated topics and dissect them from different angles; showing how they interconnect. The Civics Institute focuses on sharing information rather than simply telling people an opinion.

Jennifer Pope - 11th District Connecticut State Central Committeewoman

I’ve learned that education is the best tool to feel empowered to get involved and have informed discourse with others. I’ve learned that it’s important to get out of your echo chamber and not be afraid to engage people who have different views than your own.

Laura Bittner - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

I learned the importance of engaging in meaningful conversations or political debates with people, I also learned how to be judicious with whom I engage, so I could maximize my impact.

Civics Institute Founder, Patrick, spoke to our activism group a few months ago, and he helped us find our focus. He talked about identifying the issues that are most important to us as a group, and he helped us establish next steps in advocating for the changes we would like to see. Patrick helped me understand that it’s important to pay attention to—and participate in—local government. I had not realized how much change is generated at the local level, and I will never again overlook local politics.

Patrick gave us resources of other local activism groups that we could work with to achieve our goals, and he took the time to explain the function of each one. He also spent time explaining the system of local politics, which I had never fully understood before. I walked away with confidence that I can be an effective agent for change in my community!
